Slatwall Cockpit-Style Control Consoles
General Motors - Genuine Parts Command Center

In 2006, Americon was commissioned to design, manufacture and install a  control room for General Motors in Austin, Texas. The control center was developed with the help of IBM, who was contracted to run the day to day operation. Americon staff worked together with IBM's Ryan Conover and Scott Rose in designing a functional environment that included cockpit-style slatwall workstations that were connected together using teardrop-shaped storage modules. The workstations included articulating keyboard/mouse platforms, LED task lighting, three drawer integrated pedestals, CPU storage and articulating monitor arms.  The final touch was the classic General Motors logo engraved into the end panels of the workstations.

For the monitoring system, we added our Visionmaster LCD, ultra-thin mullion video wall system. The displays used at the time were twelve stacked NEC 46" LED backlit monitors and the video wall processor was Jupiter's Fusion Catalyst. We also incorporated audio and lighting controls and layout selection using a Crestron control system with 70V whole room sound. Fourteen years later, this control center is still up and running.
